Hi - I've set up a Slack bot in Lindy, but I keep receiving the note that "Lindy has turned off direct messages, so you won't be able to respond to these messages". The Slack bot works fine in public channels, but I'm not able to get it to successfully work in a DM
Hi Accelerated D. just sent you a reply via email
Hi Kha N. thank you - I just responded to the email thread; here's the same response I sent I'm still having a bit of trouble. To confirm, is this the possible flow?
User sends a DM to Lindy
Lindy searches knowledge base, finds answer
Lindy sends as a thread to the original DM
I've had no problem getting Lindy to work in a public channel; however our goal is to treat Lindy as an individual user/bot, so that team members can message Lindy directly without the messages be public or viewable by other team members in the workspace. Thanks!
Kha N. thank you! That makes sense setting it as Slackbot - however, unfortunately now I run into this issue when I test the flow. Message Received and Search Knowledge Base have no problem, however Send Message results in channel_not_found API errors:
Ah yes I ran into that too. You’ll need to use Slack Send Direct Message instead. Then it’ll work :)
Kha N. - apologies I have another question. I was able to get it to work for just one user, but we need it to work for all users in the Slack workspace. When I test with my own slack it works great, but here I test with a user in the Slack workspace and it doesn't register receiving the message. We need all individuals in the slack workspace to be able to message Lindy through their Slackbots and receive the answers in their Slackbots
Ah interesting. That should be working. The Lindy app is added into the Slack workspace?
And you want the conversations to be fully private (in DM’s) right?
Yes correct; however I've only been able to get it to work with one specific user
I'm wondering if it's because although you are targeting the entire ADM workspace, you did authenticate through slack through your own account
If you need it to be in DM's only, then you may need to make this Lindy a template, share it with your teammate, and your teammate adds a copy of the agent into their Lindy account
But if you are okay with the conversations being in Slack channels outside of DM's, then you can just have it listen to messages in certain channels (instead of Slackbot)
