How to Access Notion Database Item Properties When Referenced in Workflow Steps?

Hey, The Notion's "Update a database item" can't read the item's properties if you reference it from another step in the workflow. It only reads them if you select a fixed item from the dropdown. This is not really useful. How can I see the item properties from a referenced item?
